Christmas Brunch Ideas: Crepes with Nutella and Homemade Jam

One of the first things I learned to make was Crepes. Crepes are comfort food for me! They’re so delicious, comforting, and can be made sweet or savory. However, I think a great Christmas Brunch calls for lots of sweetness! And these Crepes with Nutella and Homemade Jam are sweet, delicious, and the perfect Holiday treat! This crepe recipe was handed down by my great-grandma and has been made my nearly every woman on my mom’s side of the family. Crepes are a right of passage in our family. Ask just about every grandchild and great grandchild in our family what the first thing they made when “they grew up” and everyone will tell you crepes. They’re not the easiest thing to get right, but they’re a classic family tradition. We make them for nearly every family gathering and we make them a lot during the holidays. Crepes can always be made ahead of time, that’s why they’re perfect for Christmas Brunch. A Classic Crepe in our family is filled with jelly. However, I took it a step further and made homemade jam. I made a homemade raspberry rhubarb jam and a blueberry jam. Both of the jams are so delicious and so incredibly easy! I made a large batch of each so I can use in other recipes, too. I filled the crepes with Nutella, folded them, topped with the jam, fresh mint, and powdered sugar! This is definitely a treat! I try to make these only during special occasions. Every time I eat them, it takes me back to my childhood. When calories didn’t count, life was all about the next play date with friends, and Santa lived in North Pole. BTW I want to be a kid again! Who’s with me? Why is adulting so hard? I mean it has it’s perks, but worrying about the calories in this crepe is not one of them. Anyways – I digress.
