I was so excited to decorate Lukas’ nursery. We knew what theme we wanted to go with even before we knew the gender. I work at an airport, my husband used to work for an airline, and we both love to travel. So, we knew we wanted a travel themed nursery, boy or girl. We also knew the walls were going to be painted a tone of gray. We were just going to accent with different colors depending on the gender.

We were lucky enough to receive a hand-me-down crib that was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a white crib because it was gender neutral and we would be able to use it for a second child, when the time came. We kept the rest of the furniture gender neutral as well for the same reasons. My mom found the perfect matching bookcase and toy chest on Amazon. It has great storage. We love it.

Welcome to the world wall art and baby crib

We also love the dresser we found at Ikea. It doubles as a changing table and has great storage! For wall decor, I found the World Map on Etsy. I saw a similar map at Restoration Hardware but it was extremely expensive. I was so excited when I found this much cheaper version. It’s still pricey but it was just what I was looking for! The majority of the other decor items were found at Hobby Lobby and Target. Links to the items are below.

The nursery was finally complete on January 30, 2017 when Lukas James MacClaren arrived. It’s kind of surreal to look at the pictures above which were taken before he was born. It’s hard to imagine the room without him in it. I love that we created a space just for him. I think as he grows, he will love it. It’s also a good theme to keep during his toddler years. We can’t wait to explore the world with him and experience travel in a new way. Happy decorating for your little one! xoxo
