Growing up we had taco night and spaghetti night nearly every week. These were two of my favorite meals for dinner. Unfortunately, these meals can be loaded with calories. But they don’t have to be. I found a way to slim down two of my favorites while keeping the yum factor. I made both of these meals this week and I was completely satisfied. Lets start with the spaghetti:

I love this Turkey Bolognese! It’s packed with flavor and I don’t miss the ground beef at all. If I want to splurge, I’ll do a mixture of lean turkey and Italian sausage. I serve the sauce over zoodles. You can also serve it over the Banza Chickpea Pasta. These are two great replacements for pasta. I love the Veggetti I bought from Amazon. It’s the best one I’ve found! It’s so easy to use and takes up very little space.

I love to add a ton of mushrooms to the meat sauce. I think it helps make the sauce extra meaty tasting without the added calories. The red wine in this sauce really takes the flavor up a notch. This recipe will make your house smell soooo good. This is one of my favorite things to make!

Both of these meals substitute lean turkey for ground beef. For the slimmed down tacos, I serve over crisp romaine lettuce leaves. Fresh guacamole is essential with this dish. I like to make a double batch of the turkey mixture to use in rise bowls and over salads throughout the week.

I don’t miss the traditional taco shells at all. The key is to make sure the lettuce is fresh. I love the crunch this adds. The ingredients are minimal and the prep time is about 20 minutes.

I hope these easy and healthy recipes make your week easier. Let me know what you think if you give them a try!
